Online replication specialist Double-Take told The Hypervisor this week that it plans to launch a version of its online replication suite to support Microsoft’s forthcoming Hyper-V hypervisor, which is expected to launched about six months after Windows Server 2008, due next spring. While such a move would surprise nobody, news that Double-Take has no plans to support Xen or other third party hypervisors might ruffle a few feathers. The news indicates that for the next year or so firms will have little choice but to use VMware’s ESX Server hypervisor if they also want the option of buying virtual machine management tools from third party vendors.
