Quick and easy DR sounds too good to be true, but I’ve been reviewing a new appliance and service offering from Plan B. The review is published on ZDnet, and according to the review, the Plan B offering seems to have most of the bases covered.

Plan B developed the appliance and agent software itself, and has ISO 27001 certification pending. A spokesman told me that their datacenter has 24/7 security and their equipment is stored in locked cabinets. I guess it’s one of those situations where if you don’t mind your data being hosted off site then the Plan B offering is about as good as you can hope for in terms of the physical security of the remote datacenter. The Plan B offering also gives you a replica of your server updated overnight every day, and tested every day.

Some companies don’t allow their data out of their direct control, and they must spend considerably more for an off site disaster recovery system.
